SKU: BA Categories: , ,

The Hakama is a wide trouser or divided skirt that is a traditional Japanese garment commonly worn in Japanese sword arts.

The Tattsuke-bakama (also sometimes referred to as a Karusan-bakama or Tattsuke-hakama) is a version of the Hakama that was popular during the Sengoku (Warring States) period in Japan. Unlike the traditional hakama with large ballooning leg openings the Bakama has built-in kyahan (leggings). The kyahan bring the wide pants in securely around the calves.

Akado Armory offers the Tattuske-bakama style of hakama as they are better suited to use with shin and knee guards without the need to fold or bunch up the hakama around the shins in order to put on leg protection.

The Tattsuke-Bakama are made of heavy duty but breathable brushed cotton and available in three size categories: Youth, Standard, and Plus from XS to XL in our four standard garment colors, black, navy, red, and grey.

You can wear the tattsuke-bakama over a pair of our fencing pants to have hidden upper thigh protection, or wear them under our padded fencing skirt for more of the look of wear haidate (Japanese thigh armor).
